During weight-bearing, the human foot is subjected to extremely high pressures. Pressure patterns vary depending on the foot’s structure, footwear, and activity. There are two factors that determine how much pressure the foot endures with a given activity: force (body weight) and area (the amount of contact the foot has on its supportive surface). In order to effectively reduce foot pressures, it is necessary for a shoe insert to have as much contact with the foot as possible, thereby spreading the weight over the largest possible area. The illustration is a representation of the average pressures under the feet that occur inside the shoe over the course of several steps. By distributing the body weight over a larger area under the foot, the pressure in all areas are significantly reduced when using BONZ inserts.
